How to dress baby in a footmuff?
Now that the warmer days are behind us, a recurring topic of discussion is how to dress your child in a footmuff.
There is no right or wrong answer and it all depends on how warm and insulated the footmuff is, how cold the outside is and what you intend to do.
What to think about?
Have you ever been camping? So you may know that to be warm in a sleeping bag, you have to take off a layer of clothing. The sleeping bag warms up with your body heat. If you wear too many layers, you sweat and your body is unable to warm the sleeping bag. If you wear a thin layer of wool, you will be warm and you will let the heat escape to warm the sleeping bag. The same goes for babies and clothes to wear in a footmuff.
WHAT TO WEAR IN A FOOTMUFF: TO TAKE A NAP?
If the footmuff is warm and well insulated, the baby's body will warm the inside of the footmuff. It may therefore be wise to reduce the number of layers of clothing.
WHAT TO WEAR IN A FOOTMUFF: FOR ADVENTURE
When heading to the playground or outdoor activities, dress your baby or toddler appropriately so they can climb out of the footmuff to play. Put on a wetsuit or bring clothes that protect against snow, rain and sand.
WHAT TO WEAR IN A FOOTMUFF: ON A TOWN WALK
If you are going for a walk and your baby wants to sit up, you can lower the upper part to allow him to extend his arms. It will therefore be necessary to put on a warm sweater and/or a jacket, depending on the weather.
Always cover the child's head with a cap. The body loses its heat through the head and this is never covered by a footmuff.
The Inaya footmuff is warm and soft, it can be used in any weather. You can fold down the top and let the child's arms come out and even completely unzip the front on sunny days. Your footmuff then turns into a cozy stroller seat. Click here to learn more about Chancellor Inaya
